What Are The Most Common Environmental Problems?

Posted on

Industrial revolution and human advancement have resulted in a variety of environmental problems and issues. The most common problems that are threatening the natural existence of the environment are consumption and waste production. Both of these issues lay the foundation of pollution and overuse. Some other issues include the continuation of plants and animals, natural resources, and different areas of human life. A lot of environmental issues are concerned with global warming, which causes unexpected rise in the temperatures of the earth. The major playing factors behind the occurrence of global warming are greenhouse gases that are badly deteriorating the ecosystem. These greenhouse gases are being emitted to the atmosphere due to large human activities taking place on various parts on earth. There are some other high profile issues like rising sea levels, burning of the fossil fuels, and global dimming, which is causing the direct density to lower down on the surface of the earth.

A lot of environmental problems circulate around the energy usage. There is a strong need of renewable energy source owing to the depletion in nonrenewable energy sources. Significant efforts have been carried out to employ the alternate energy sources. Moreover, depletion and reduction in the production of the energy resources has made the human overpopulation an environmental problem. There is a need of making use of all possible alternate energy resources, and recycling means to counter the energy deficiency issues.

An important factor that needs to be considered is the human psyche. People should be educated and properly taught about the various threats and issues posed by these environmental problems. The environmental protection societies that are operating around the world need to come forward and create awareness among the masses about the importance of lowering down the energy consumption and controlling all those factors that are badly deteriorating the natural features of the atmosphere.

Farming is considered another major source of environmental problems. Scientific techniques like genetic engineering, use of chemicals, and presence of pesticides within crops all are the common factors. They are guilty of spreading harmful elements in all three important phases of the environment; air, land, and the human life. Moreover, meat industry, and the over-consumption of meat have caused various environment threats and issues. To cope with these issues, it is necessary to create awareness and impart understanding among all people around the globe.

When it comes to environment degradation, a number of factors are usually involved. Some of them are very common like clear cutting, erosion, and indefensible development. If the damage has already been done on the massive scale, it would be difficult for the environment to come back to its original state on its own. Erosion could harm the fertility of the earth by removing the topsoil, leaving behind the useless and low quality soil. This can take place due to the poor agricultural methods and techniques. In order to cope with all sorts of environmental problems, serious steps will have to be undertaken. These steps should be implemented in terms of social as well as legal aspects.
